PlayCo/Sala Beckett Playwright Residency Exchange

July 1, 2024
Spain
July 1-22, 2024 in Barcelona. The residency exchange advances PlayCo's mission of putting U.S. artists in conversation with the global community.

This opportunity is open to U.S. playwrights age 35 and under, with a strong interest in international engagement and exchange, who have received 2 or more fully produced premieres of their work at professional theatres. We strongly encourage writers from historically marginalized communities to apply. Applications due February 29.

In the fall of 2023, PlayCo and Sala Beckett completed Phase 1 of their playwright residency exchange, when Catalan playwright Josep Maria Miró spent 3 weeks in residence with PlayCo in New York.

In July 2024 Sala Beckett will host a U.S. writer for 3 weeks in Barcelona, July 1-22, to complete Phase 2 of this exchange. The residency program will include full participation in Sala Beckett's Obrador d’estiu (Summer Workshop) July 7- 13, with an additional two weeks of independent residency time. The residency exchange advances PlayCo's mission of putting U.S. artists in conversation with the global community.
