August 17–September 24, 2016
USAN.Y.C. Premiere

In this irreverent new genre-bending piece, theatre makers Christopher Chen and Lee Sunday Evans apply their playful imaginations to the work of a Chinese dissident artist. Their hybrid work invites you to navigate a labyrinthine trail between truth and perception, authority and authenticity, illusionary art and real jeopardy.

Christopher Chen’s intricately constructed, unrelentingly destabilizing puzzle of a play … [is] directed with exquisite precision by Lee Sunday Evans, and slyly designed every step of the way.
–The New York Times

Clearly, Christopher Chen’s comedy-drama… is having its own insidious effect on me, days after I saw it. The whole thing was pretty great.
–Huffington Post

…a smart, self-assured meditation on the politics of truth, in art and in life.
–The Village VOICE

…the physical production (typically for the Play Company) is beautifully realized…The execution couldn’t be better: Evans and her team clearly found the Inception-esque challenge of the text exciting.
